The Product

Auto Extract Systems' sliding track rail system is an ideal solution for emergency vehicles with low-mounted exhaust pipes, typically fire engines and ambulances that have their exhaust pipe under the vehicle. Sliding rail balancer systems feature a trolley that moves along an aluminium extruded rail to provide a movable local exhaust ventilation (LEV) system. The trolley is directly coupled to the exhaust pipe on the emergency vehicle by a suitably sized hose and grabber nozzle. The nozzle is secured to the vehicle’s exhaust through the means of a compressed air feed, which typically runs from a compressor through the rail and down the hose assembly.

How Does a Sliding Trolley Rail Systems Work?

As an emergency vehicle’s engine starts up, exhaust emissions are detected by pressure sensors that are mounted within the rail. This, in turn, activates the local exhaust ventilation system’s fan that’s controlled through an electrical panel for as long as it can detect vehicle exhaust fumes flowing, and subsequently, for 30 seconds afterwards. As an emergency vehicle begins to drive through the bay, the hose and nozzle tracks along the rail until it reaches a predetermined position, where an air release switch automatically deflates the pneumatic grabber nozzle to release it from the vehicle.

We Have the Solution for You...

At Auto Extract Systems, we can find the right solution for your business to safely remove vehicle exhaust fumes, including carcinogenic diesel fumes from your vehicle maintenance workshop or garage.

A Complete LEV System

Sliding trolley rail systems should be utilised in conjunction with one of our centrifugal fans to vent the captured vehicle exhaust fumes directly to the atmosphere via a high-velocity cowl, as per HSG258: Controlling Airborne Contaminants at Work: A Guide to Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV).
