Full Description
Fixed/Semi-Flexible Drops
We offer a couple of different types of cost-effective local exhaust ventilation (LEV) systems for both diesel and petrol exhaust fumes; fixed drops systems and semi-flexible drop systems. Both are easy to operate and connect the extraction system directly onto the vehicles exhaust pipe. We have a wide range of different exhaust fume nozzles available to ensure the flexible exhaust home can be connected to the exhaust.
A crush-resistant flexible extraction hose will prevent exposure to harmful diesel exhaust fumes and will run between the car and the stainless steel ducting to remove harmful air pollutants from the working environment. At-source extraction is highly recommended, as it prevents carcinogenic Diesel Engine Exhaust Emissions (DEEEs) from escaping into the workplace.
For both fixed and semi-flexible drop systems, a 170oC crush-resistant flexible exhaust hose can be specified in either 100mm, 125mm and 150mm diameter. However, this is subjective to the size of the LEV system and the pressures required to safely remove the contaminants.
High-Temperature Fixed/Semi-Flexible Drops
Depending on the processes the LEV system is required to do, the high-temperature exhaust extraction hose can be specified in either 400oC, 600oC or 1,100oC hose. This type of hose would be ideal for processes that are undertaking diesel fuel engine regeneration processes.
Benefits of Fixed/Semi-Flexible Drops
- Highly cost-effective
- Simple to operate
- Wide range of nozzles available
Fixed Drop Systems
Fixed drops are comprised of a shorter section of flexible extraction pipe that connects into a long piece of vertically suspended galvanised steel ducting bracketed directly to the wall and runs upwards towards the main header duct. From here, the duct runs back to the air mover, typically a centrifugal fan.
Semi-Flexible Drops
Whilst semi-flexible drops are comprised of a longer section of flexible extraction pipe that connects into a shorter piece of vertically suspended galvanised steel ducting bracketed, which has a flexible coupling (with an internal safety link located at the top of the exhaust drop) and runs upwards towards the main header duct. From here, the duct runs back to the air mover, typically a centrifugal fan.
After either a Fixed/Semi-Flexible Drops LEV system's been used, its's easy to disconnect the exhaust nozzle from the vehicle and return the hose to the storage bracket provided.

A Complete LEV System
Fixed/semi-flexible drops should be utilised in conjunction with one of our centrifugal fans to vent the captured vehicle exhaust fumes directly to the atmosphere via a high-velocity cowl, as per HSG258: Controlling Airborne Contaminants at Work: A Guide to Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV).
