Full Description
Dust Extraction Arms
Auto Extract System's wide range of dust extraction arms is ideal for tough working environments and industrial processes, such as hot processes, like welding and grinding. Arms for extraction are ideal for dealing with high temperatures, dust and smoke or fume as its made from a solid tubular structure.
Dust extraction arms, or (welding fume extraction arms) feature a smooth internal bore, which offers a lower pressure drop than those found on the typical hose extraction arms and reduced the risk of blockages inside the arm. The smooth interior of the suction tube makes the extraction unit's arm very easy to clean and maintain.
Dust extraction arms come in different diameters and depend on the airflows required at the capture hood to contain and remove the contaminant at-source and are available in three diameters, including 125mm, 160mm and 200mm. Arms are available in lengths of 2, 3, 4, 6, 8 and 10-metre lengths.
User-Friendly Operation
Dust extractor arms are easy to manoeuvre and feature a 360° swivel function to offer the user great positional stability, even whilst fully extended. The user is easily able to operate dust extraction arms, as it's aided with multiple friction joints and two strong gas-powered struts, which means the user can position the hood exactly where they want it.
An effortless 4-way hood knuckle joint provides the user with a simple, yet smooth performance. It can operate above and below its mounting height and can be turned through virtually 360°. It can be positioned high or low and has good stability when manoeuvred into position.
Welding fume extractors also feature a unique 4-way centre joint, which makes it easy for the user to operate. it can easily be tilted up, down, left and right to capture dust, fumes or gases at the source.
Always Choose a Low-Pressure Drop
We've tried and tested many different extraction arms on the market and have found these to be the most robust and highest-quality arms available. The hose extraction arms we install come complete with an external exoskeletal support structure. An external support structure allows for there to be:
- Pressure Drop - A low-pressure drop within the system. Less mechanical parts disturb the airflow mean the user will get a better airflow at the capture hood
- Easier to Maintain - Less mechanical seizures mean it's easier to move to the desired capture location, but also easy to clean and maintain. Contaminant capture by the LEV system, such as dust, can easily seize up joints and make it difficult to manoeuvre and service
- Noise - Less noise disruption from the LEV system ventilation will make the workplace less noisy
- Performance - Our extraction arms offer 50% better airflow and 50% static pressure drop than a traditional internal knuckle type arm
Articulated Dust Extraction Arms
Extraction arms are available in a wide variety of lengths, from 2,000mm to 10,000mm and can articulate 180° in radius, from the wall or structure fixing, effectively doubling the arm's reach.
Friction Brake
Friction brakes are mounted under the wall bracket and help to make the extraction arm manoeuvre and helps to ensure that the articulated sanction remains in its selected position. Friction brakes are included, as standard, on larger dust extraction arms with bars. They're easy to adjust too, with no tools required, as they feature a knob that's easy to adjust and provide great flexibility with the desired resistance.
Dust Extraction Arm Variants
Dust extraction arms are available in a choice of either blue or white, both come with their unique selling points, these include:
Blue Dust Extraction Arm | White Dust Extraction Arm |

Dust Extraction Arm Accessories
Dust extraction arms can be specified with additional accessories, to make it easier for the user to operate the LEV system. Accessories, such as operation control switches, lights (located n the centre of the capture hood to illuminate the workplace). The cone hood capture nozzle on the dust extraction arm is manufactured entirely of sheet steel and features a simple and quick coupling system for easy connection with capture hoods. They can be specified with capture hoods, capture hoods with a light (and switch) or capture hoods with fan control switches, or both...
Telescopic Dust Extraction Arms
We also offer a choice of telescopic dust extraction arms, which ideal for the same tough working environments but are better for more compact areas to offer the user the flexibility to extend their reach in a smaller workspace. The telescopic extractions arms are manufactured with a solid blue tubular structure. They are available in either 100mm or 125mm diameter and are 2,000mm in length.
Extraction Arms
We also have a range of Fume Extraction Arms that are ideal for lighter, less industrial working environments, for example, handling of fumes and light dusts.
What Do The HSE State?
Shortly after the reclassification and the enforcement expectations changed, HSE released new guidance for managers. in November 2019, the HSE (Health and Safety Executive) released revised task-specific COSHH guidance for welding, cutting and allied jobs to help managers make sure that exposure to all kinds of welding fume is controlled in the workplace.
On the HSE's website, they have different guidance sheets depending on the task you're undertaking. These include:
- WL0 - Advice For Managers
- WL2 - Welding in Confined/Limited/Restricted Spaces
- WL3 - Welding Fume Control. In this guidance, it recommends: "Using a movable fume capture hood on a flexible extraction arm for large to extra-large workpieces."
