Passenger Exhaust Filters
Auto Extract System’s passenger exhaust filter should be included as personnel safety equipment for those who work with petrol or diesel engines in cars or small vans. The particle filters are ideal for light-driving styles, for example, when used light driving styles or when vehicles are started or driven indoors on short journeys, e.g. in car showrooms.
Car exhaust pipe filters are relatively inexpensive, can be used on the majority of exhaust pipes and have a >99% filtration efficiency to remove the dust from the exhaust gas, however, they shouldn’t be relied upon as a long term or permanent source of local exhaust ventilation.
Passenger Exhaust Filters Benefits
- Separates hazardous substances
- For short distance driving indoors
- Reduces particles by 99%
- For cars and light vehicles
- Use in factories, showrooms, workshops etc.
- Unaffected by humidity
How do Passenger Car Exhaust Filters Work?
Exhaust filters for cars easily push directly on to the exhaust pipe and are effective as soon as the when the engine's started. They have a filter within the unit to capture particulates after the catalytic converter and diesel particulate filters to help reduce air pollution in the workplace. However, it must be noted that they are unable to filter carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide gases.
- The Capture Nozzle - Easy to fit directly on a vehicle's exhaust pipe and are effective immediately when the engine starts.
- Membrane Indicator - Indicator to alert the user when the filter's full of captured particles and needs replacing.
- Particulate Filter - Filters are inexpensive, can be used on the majority of exhaust pipes and are over 99% efficient.
What Are Exhaust Particulates?
Particulates, also often known as particulate matter, is a mixture of solid and liquid particles that are suspended in the air. In the example of motor vehicles, the particulates are formed when the car's exhaust system is engaged and the fuel is emitted into the environment. Particulates can be dangerous as they contain several hazardous substances and when inhaled, can cause serious health issues. This is why car exhaust particulate filters are extremely useful and important. Filters help to trap dangerous particles, such as soot, and prevent them from entering the environment.
What Are the Dangers?
Emissions include over 40 substances that are listed as hazardous air pollutants and 15 of them are listed as carcinogenic to humans. Exhaust fume can either appear as a grey or black smoke, or be invisible.
People can only see particles down to 20 microns. New-generation diesel engines produce 15 to 35 times more smaller particles than old-generation diesel engines.
The Health Benefits
Not only are the people who are in the same confined spaces as running engines exposed to the harmful emissions, but as a result of ineffective ventilation, people (such as office workers working in adjacent spaces) are also exposed to the dangers of airborne particles.
We inhale airborne particles without even thinking about it and particles enter our respiratory system and fasten in our lungs.
Short Term Impact
- Decreases in lung function
- Increased coughing
- Laboured breathing
- Chest tightness
- Asthma
Long Term Impact
- Chronic bronchitis
- Reduced pulmonary function
- Lung cancer
