Direct Connections
Auto Extract Systems can provide direct connections to various types of machines that produce harmful types of oil or dust. These can be in form of hose connection to built-in spigots on the machines themselves or via bespoke guards, hoods etc. fabricated to suit each machine so that the dust is captured. Dust is then conveyed to a centralised filtration unit to remove captured particles and return the cleaned air to the atmosphere.
Wood Dust Extraction
Providing wood dust extraction in a woodworking business's workshops is paramount for the health and safety of all stakeholders. Comprehensive local exhaust ventilation (LEV) systems should be designed and specified to adequately capture and control dust in the workplace. Ensuring the right form of LEV is specified for the woodworking machinery and can fullfil its intended purpose.
As woodworking equipment will produce waste of one sort or another and will feature a variable spigot size. Various spigot sizes matched with different volume and airflow pressures can make specifying an appropriately-sized LEV system complicated. We typically expect the business to have an ideal type of LEV in mind to safely collect and remove the wood dust waste in the workshop
Workplace Exposure Limits (WELs)
Exposure to wood dust can have significant health effects on employees. Hardwood dust (including mixed dust) was recently added to the EH40/2005 Workplace Exposure Limits guidance. Find out more about WELS in the comprehensive guide to what WELs are in our blog 'What are Substance WELs (Workplace Exposure Limits)?'

A Complete LEV System
Direct connections should be utilised in conjunction with one of our centrifugal fans to vent the captured fumes either directly to the atmosphere or depending on the working process, via a filtration unit. The cleaned air can then be returned to the atmosphere via a high-velocity cowl, as per HSG258: Controlling Airborne Contaminants at Work: A Guide to Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV).
